IBM opens up Watson and cognitive computing to entrepreneurs

“We don’t do coding for Watson. We train it.”

So let’s start there! IBM’s Watson is most famous for crushing Jeopardy competitors with its uncanny ability to understand the subtleties of human language, assess billions of information sources, and respond in a flash with an accurate answer.

But this breakthrough in cognitive computing can do so much more and is already on the case, solving complex world problems for the environment, food supply and population density.

The company is opening up its platform to entrepreneurs and developers through an extraordinary new collaborative program. IBM is looking for content to “fuel” Watson and is actively seeking new use cases for the technology.  They have introduced a new program that is funding people to develop new apps. IBM is even offering a free workspace for new talent partners in New York City to do it!

Specifically, IBM is looking for use cases that fit in this category:

  • Do your customers work with you in an Interactive way using natural language?
  • Do you have the content or body of knowledge to help “fuel” the answers?
  • Will end users pay for expert answers to difficult problems?
