CEOs band together to build tech we trust. But will it work?

tech we trust

On the latest episode of The Marketing Companion Brooke Sellas and I talk about a group of CEOs who have banded together and pledge to build trust into their tech They’ve created a tech manifesto and they want others to come on board.

This is what they have to say:

We can be the generation of leaders that builds tech that restores humanity. We can be the architects of responsible tech. Tech that powers equity and justice for all. Tech we trust. We believe in ourselves, we believe in you, and we believe in those who are already taking action. Whether it be a walkout, refusing to build or buy tech that accelerates hate, calling out unfair anti-abuse policies that silence marginalized voices, or continuing to demand answers from those in positions of power, the time to act is now.Our group hopes to aid in the hard but important task of coalition building and convening.

We, leaders from marginalized groups and allies, have joined forces to call out tech’s responsibility and invite peer organizations who are raising their voices here to unite in coalition. We know there are many more like us out there and we want to do our work alongside you. Let’s build the future we want together.

I think this is a worthy cause and I wanted to bring it to your attention. I hope you’ll check out their manifesto and join me in supporting them.

But wait! There’s more!

Brooke and I start the show with a little fun. Are you keeping up with Gen Z? How many of these common Gen Z phrases do you know?

  1. A whole meal
  2. Deadass
  3. Extra
  4. G
  5. Guap
  6. Gucci
  7. Headass
  8. No cap
  9. Steez
  10. This ain’t it, chief

Listen to our show to see how many you know!

We also talk about a very interesting trend — big brands disrupting themselves. When you think of disruptors, you probably think of start-ups. Listen to our show to discover which mega-brand is plowing new ground in direct to consumer.

Finally, I go on a bit of a rant. I’m disappointed that so many marketers are simply trying to keep up by doing what everybody else is doing. Marketing is about non-conformity, not conformity. Listen to the show to hear why I’m upset about this.
